About Jóna

Jóna Sparey is woman of huge energies and enthusiam for her work. In the summertime for three months Jóna organises and conducts Nature Adventure Tours in Iceland, and in the past has taken people on Adventure holidays to Peru, Nepal, Russia, New Zealand, and Scandinavian. She now concentrates on Iceland (which she has been conducting groups to for 26 years). Norway, Northern Portugal, Madeira, Southern Ireland, and invites small groups to her home in France for a Discovering the Dordogne holiday, with some having returned four times they love the area so much. When 10 years old, Jóna asked her form teacher, "How long do we live?", the teacher replied, "If we are lucky we live to about 70 years", Jóna replied, "I need twice times that!" Now at 71, Jóna still agrees with that comment.

Jóna Sparey moved from the UK in 2004, mainly for longer warmer summers, with early warm Springs and late warm Autumns. She fell in love with this beautiful area of France, with yellow fields of sunflowers stretching to the horizon. She recaptured the pleasure of driving on empty roads through wonderful landscapes, passing through old villages with Roman churches.

Jóna is very proud of her home, which is very spacious, and full of items from her travels around the world. Paintings are everywhere, as are her embroideries, her ceramics are in the kitchen area under the cooker hob and by the fireplace. Visitors say they usually spend the first day in the house, looking at all Jóna’s collection, including the various memory cabinets.
